The invisible rays act in precise manners and can only do three things once they enter the box:
1) Stay in the box. (•ABSORBED•)
2) Exit exactly where it entered. (•RETURNED•)
3) Exit at a different location. (•EMERGED•)
A ray will always travel in a straight line, but its course can be changed by interaction with other balls. A ray cannot pass directly by a ball, instead it will be deflected 90° away from the nearest corner. If the ray is approaching from the right, then it will be deflected to the right; if approaches from the left, it will be deflected to the left.
A ray can EMERGE with or without being deflected. You will not be told if there was a deflection, only that the ray emerged. Be careful, multiple deflections can cause very interesting illusions.
